Types of Cold Sore
There are two general types of fever blisters. A fever blister caused by herpes virus 1 is the most common. It is contagious and is easy to pass from person to person. The second type of cold sore is caused by herpes virus type 2. Herpes type 2 virus usually causes genital sores. It is uncommon to have a cold sore caused by this virus but it does happen.
